After spending time in the holidays looking at various blogs and wikis etc I am going to start a list of the tasks I want to be able to do - how to put stuff on youtube, to embed? things into my blog, how to make a wiki (which will be useful to others - although I might wait until the curriculum teams get into action ), how to make my personal blog more useful and user friendly, voicethread, easispeak. skpe.
I want to always keep the learning to the forefront so my tool learning is useful.

Global Interaction
I have just received an email from Chrissy (not my grandchildren's mother Chrissie -a different one.) C teachers at the International School of Bangkok and it was her blog I referred to a while ago. I had posted a comment on it about how useful I was finding her blog. She kindly said that if I wanted any help with all this ICT/learning that she was only an email away.

Action Research 2010
I have made a start with this by taking the Smart Classrooms individual Assesssment. I did it really honestly and clicked on the i bits for more information. It came back with that I was working towards Digital Pedagogy Licence Advanced.
It was really interesting to read thru the indicators.I have saved it so I can look at it frequently - it had words like reflect, collaborate, seeking opportunities to improve, understands how ICT transforms practice and influences what students learn, how they learn,create authentic opportunities for students, global.
There was also information about keeping a digital portfolio. This can be part of the final presentation -I guess

Wikis
I went ont0 our Rellco wiki into the discussion part and saw a post from J.- she's the leader of our schools e learning and inquiry team. I am so looking forward to working with her and the rest of the OPS team. I changed my profile and put on a real photo instead of that squarehead thing. I hope J replies to me as I have missed getting any interaction.
One of the first things I am going to learn is how to do voicethread or will easispeak be better??
I just had to share a photo of one of my 2009 New entrants presenting our inquiry to our Principal. At this stage of a new year I always wonder what exciting learning will my new new entrants come out with - N.E. are such an exciting level to teach and learn with.

National Standards
I have just been browsing on TKI and having another look at the National Standards. With our big room I know I will have more space to display relevant parts in the various curriculum areas in the room.
As a new entrant teacher I had better get it right especally the reporting to parents part. I think I need to do some parent education on them and the way of reporting but I had better wait to see if the school is doing that first.
I know the importance of collecting strong starting data and I need to think about which is the best time to do the first (reporting ) and probably meeting with the parents - is it after 6 weeks at school so we can all be aware of the child's learning needs and the part we all have to play in this?
Also it states "All students should know what goals they are working towards and why they are important." Another reminder for me about learning intentions and success criteria. Maybe the National standards need to be part of my Action Inquiry - Oral language isnt an actual NS but surely oral language is the bsais of all NE writing , reading and Maths?

My laptop has been playing up in the holidays and I can't get any emails - maybe its the school end?? Just think less than a year ago I couldn't have cared less about getting emails - but now I want to get in touch with a couple of people who's only contact I have is their email.
Looking thru blogs from people who went to L@S in the past I need to work out how to use more interesting things like twitter, youtube, skpe, and probably heaps more. I am starting to get a bit scared about being on the school's ICT/Inquiry team as I think it will mean that I will have to really push myself with my own learning in these areas.
